Gatework: Legal jobs in Poland for workers from abroad

A job platform that helped people from Georgia, Armenia and other countries find safe, legal work in Poland. We designed and built it for a Georgian company in eight months: a mobile-first web app with its backend. It went live in May 2023, and we kept developing it until June 2024.

Gatework on three phones: a job offer for a production line operator with its requirements and weekly schedule, the offer's employer tab, and the home screen with an offer for a painter and a guide to working legally.

01 · Business context

The problem

Our client helped people in Georgia find good, legal jobs abroad, and wanted to make the whole search easier and open to anyone.

They needed one place for both sides: employers in Poland looking for workers, and people looking for work. It had to bring a steady flow of job offers, give both sides a way to talk, and be a reliable source of information about working legally in another country. And it had to work on the web and on phones.

02 · Key features

What we built

A mobile-first web app in Next.js, with a Strapi backend, Stripe payments and a chat that translated messages automatically. It worked in English, Georgian, Polish and Russian. Six developers, a UI/UX designer and a tester built it. These are its most important features.

  • Offers that fit each person

    Search and filters for profession, place, hourly pay, accommodation and help from a coordinator matched offers to each job seeker.

  • Chat with automatic translation

    Job seekers asked employers questions, showed interest and sent their CV and documents in a chat that translated messages, Georgian and Armenian included.

  • Detailed offers from verified employers

    A template made employers describe the job, the duties, the schedule and any help with moving and accommodation, and the platform verified their accounts.

  • Premium plans and legal guides

    Job seekers and employers paid for subscription plans online through Stripe, and guides explained how to work legally abroad.

Gatework on two phones: the job-offer filters (profession, place, hourly pay, a coordinator's help, accommodation), and a chat with an employer locked until the job seeker renews the premium plan.

03 · Results

What changed

We built Gatework in eight months. It went live in May 2023, and we kept developing it for another year.

Key achievements

  • Built in eight months; the platform went live in May 2023.
  • Four interface languages (English, Georgian, Polish and Russian), with automatic translation of job offers and chat messages.
  • We kept developing Gatework for a year after launch, until June 2024: premium offers, a new home screen, payment checks and analytics.
Gatework on two phones: a job seeker choosing up to three professions, and an employer's job offers, each with the days it has left or marked as expired.
